HABLEMOS DE RUTINA DE LAVADO

LET'S TALK ABOUT WASHING ROUTINE

There are many moms writing to me with questions about how to wash cloth diapers? So we will start with the basics of what not to do...

No chlorine No vinegar .

At home we usually disinfect with chlorine or vinegar, but if you do not measure correctly in diapers, you could damage the pull and springs of the diaper and invalidate warranties.

No soap choose biodegradable reference detergent (yes, detergent is one thing and soap is another, we have already talked about this).

No baking soda Since it is not necessary and most detergents already contain it as an ingredient.

No dish soap as its formulation can cause irritation to the baby's skin.

Fabric softeners are not used since the fat in these waterproofs and covers the diapers.

Do not use hot water it causes leaks and delamination of the pull and relaxes the springs.

IMPORTANT: This routine will only be a BASE since each routine must be  adapt to your lifestyle so that it is practical and functional. 👇🏼 I'll tell you 👇🏼

Once the diaper is removed from the baby, it should be taken apart (remove the insert from the pocket). If it has poop, it should be removed within a period of no more than 12 hours. It is not recommended that more than that time pass, as it causes stains and bad odors. If the poop is liquid, it will be necessary to take it apart, put the absorbent pads to dry in the shade and remove the poop with a stream of water or with a soft-bristled brush in the sink. After that, make a “ball” and compress the diaper to remove excess water (BE CAREFUL NOT to squeeze and twist) and then also put it to dry in the shade.

Yes, drying in the shade is recommended. After using them, they should be left to dry in the shade, never in the sun, because the sun sets in odors and stains if the diaper is dirty. Diapers need to be aired and it is not recommended that they remain piled up in one place while they are wet, as mold is generated while they wait for wash day. So if you are not going to wash them soon, it is best to leave them to dry dirty in the shade.

Now here you have 2 options depending on the number of diapers you have and your daily routine. That's why it's important to get the right advice and find the ideal PACK for your baby and your lifestyle.

EXAMPLE: If you have more than 20 diapers you can wash them every 2 days, you just have to do a #PRE-RINSE: This is done only with water for at least 30 minutes in the washing machine or with 200 pumps (minimum) with a plunger, after doing so you have to spin or compress them and if you are not going to do the main wash yet, they should be put to dry in the shade. Once dry they can wait up to 5 days for the main wash.

#PRE-WASH is done when the diapers have been dirty for 2 to 3 days, 🚨 EYE, they should not be left dirty for more than 3 days 🚨 . This is done with half the detergent you would use for a full load, they should be scrubbed for 40 minutes in the washing machine or with 300 pumps (minimum) with a plunger, after that you should spin or compress and here a 15-minute rinse or 300 pumps should be done to remove any remaining detergent. After this, if you are not doing the main wash, you should dry in the shade and set them aside until the day you do the main wash. Even with this process (PRE-WASH) they can last 5 more days waiting for the main wash.

Now the MAIN WASH is done with the full dose of detergent for the load you are going to wash. In the washing machine, set the roughest cycle = +AGITATION and scrub for 40-45 minutes. If you use a drain cleaner, you need at least 400 pumps. After this, spin or squeeze and then rinse.

It is recommended to do 1 rinse if you use a low-foam detergent or 2 rinses if you use a commercial detergent. If you use a drain cleaner, do 2 rinses of 250 pumps each and squeeze between them.

And that's it, sun absorbent covers in the shade or if for some reason you want to put covers in the sun to remove stains, remember that it is only recommended to put them on for a maximum of one hour. ⚠️

Tip:  The main wash can be done immediately after pre-rinsing or pre-washing. It just depends on how many diapers you have in your STASH.

More diapers = LESS Washing Days

And LESS wear and tear on your diapers.
